I've thought about going with disk sliders, but find the shoes with the full sliders just more comfortable (for now, maybe that will change if I ever don't suck at curling). And I've honestly never seen a red brick slider at either club I curl at! And I don't think I've ever seen a steel slider at the clubs either, or on tv?

I think, as with almost everything, you get what you pay for. Expensive curling shoes will last longer than cheap-on-sale curling shoes. Up in Canada there are a few brand choices: Oslon, Asham, Ultima, Goldline, BalancePlus etc. Each have strengths and weaknesses.

I wanted cute shoes, but will settle for mid-priced, comfortable, warm shoes with a slider thickness that is appropriate for my level of curling. And I sure hope they last longer than 4yrs - because $200 ain't cheap!

Oh, and remember to replace your grippers every year or so, otherwise they leave black bits on the ice!Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01550432726855043889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-237334178441267989.post-32703088073721875982011-02-18T18:23:33.003-05:002011-02-18T18:23:33.003-05:00Yes, we are on the wrong side of the border, but t...Yes, we are on the wrong side of the border, but there is a very good pro-shop just over the Peace Bridge at the Welland Curling Club.

http://wellandcurlingclub.com/ProShop/tabid/4248/language/en-US/Default.aspx

Marietta is really cool, she will order whatever size you need and let you know when they come in. If you go to pick them up on a Sunday afternoon, she will let you use the awesome ice there!

Our shoes were $80 each, our brooms $75. She gave us the grippers for free. Harmonized Sales Tax, which is 13%, is rolled into those prices! They accept U.S. checks. Let me know if you ever want to take a trip.Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02922231021287645853noreply@blogger.com
